AMSA flags sharply narrower losses for 2025

Steelmaker ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) expects its losses for the year ended December 31, 2025, to narrow significantly.

In a trading statement published on January 30, the company said it expected to post a loss a share of between R2.20 and R2.72, a 48% to 58% narrowing on the loss a share of R5.24 reported for 2024.

Its headline loss a share is expected to narrow by 31% to 41% to between R2.68 and R3.18, compared with the headline loss a share of R4.58 reported for 2024.

During the year, the steelmaker closed its longs steel business, which had been lossmaking for some time.

AMSA would publish its results on February 5.
